I am a National Board Certified Art Teacher. I renewed my certification in 2017 and currently work with the Alabama NT3 program supporting National Board Candidates.
Currently I am working on a Doctorate of Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama. My dissertation explores how elementary teachers implement STEAM teaching strategies in the classroom.
I am in my 18th year of teaching. I began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before moving to my family farm in Springville, Alabama. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade, technology and Art. I am currently at Paine Elementary School in Trussville, Alabama.
I live on my family homestead with my daughter and a variety of animals. We are both certified SCUBA divers, so our latest adventures are taking us to the oceans. She now attends Troy University and is in the Sound of the South Marching band.
I am a creative, high energy teacher who LOVES to take on big projects!
